Bankruptcy is a word that often illicit a negative feeling for most people in our society. Bankruptcy can be the best way for families, individuals or business to climb out of economic disparity. Bankruptcy can be the best way for groups to have a survival for the future.
In 2005 Congress passed the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA). This act amended previous rules regarding bankruptcy protection. This law rose the waiting period between filings to 96 months (8 years). The rule favors creditors over those are seeking protection. Bankruptcy can be very challenging for those who are experiencing the process for the first time.
